A soldier that doesn't want to go to war

Wow.

From the article:

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, set to deploy to Afghanistan, says he shouldn’t have to go.

His reason?

Barack Obama was never eligible to be president because he wasn’t born in the United States.

He may have a point there. All the LWM protests to the contrary a lot of people don't believe that the current President was eligible to be President.

Now it gets a little sillier:

Cook’s lawyer, Orly Taitz, who has also challenged the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency in other courts, filed a request last week in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order and status as a conscientious objector for his client.

I wasn't aware that a volunteer could have conscientious objector status. Seems to me in a volunteer military that the conscientious objectors should just not volunteer. If I'm wrong about that someone please let me know.

How about this:

Cook further states he “would be acting in violation of international law by engaging in military actions outside the United States under this President’s command. ... simultaneously subjecting himself to possible prosecution as a war criminal by the faithful execution of these duties.”

Again, if the guy was worried about that he shouldn't have signed up. The guy is a Major in the United States Army. You can't tell me that he didn't realize he could be sent on military missions outside the United States.

The article doesn't tell the whole story here, but from his own statement and the request for a conscientious objector status I get the impression that the guy wants the benefits (training, education, leadership experience, insurance, pay, etc.) without the risks normally associated with serving in the military.

When you sign up one of the risks is that you'll be sent to a foreign country and do this nation's bidding. Another risk is that a man you don't like may be elected President while you are serving. If you aren't willing to face those risks then don't volunteer.

Then the author had to throw this in:

Documents show Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961, two years after it became a state.

Sorry. Documents can show anything whether it's true or not. I've seen a document for sale on ebay that showed Obama was born in Kenya.
