Terrafugia Flying Car Moving Ahead in the US!!

Here is your link.

The summary is that the FAA made an exemption and classified it as a light sport aircraft even though it couldn't get under the normal weight limit for that class of aircraft. That classification means it will be easier to get a license to fly it.

Not that I could afford one at an expected price of $194,000, but I can dream, can't I?

Does this look like a person who should be telling anyone else what to eat?

She seems to think that a federal law telling Americans what to eat would be Constitutional.

Here is the video:

She says in the video that she thinks a law requiring Americans to eat vegetables would be stupid. Looking at pictures of her I suspect she wouldn't think a law requiring Americans to eat donuts would be stupid.

The question that matters and that nobody has asked (at least I haven't heard about it) is this:

Which of the following do you agree with:

A. The Constitution is a restriction on government power and must be preserved.

B. The Constitution is an obstacle on the road to paradise and was written by a bunch of old , patriarcical, white guys who are dead anyway.

The answer to that question would be more useful than any of the questions I've heard asked in the hearings.

From what I've read and heard so far I think it is pretty clear what her answer would be.

Pelosi, Kagan, and the President busted by the FBI!?

Well, that's what I first thought when I heard that the FBI arrested 11 Russian secret agents whose mission was to "develop ties in policymaking circles in US". I guess you can understand my confusion.

Here is a link.

Here is another.

I find it interesting that a lot of the coverage is dedicated to the use of "old school" technology. Seems to me that is a good tactic to use against a nation that excels at using high technology. I can't wait for the books to come out because they should make some interesting reading.

The question that keeps coming back to me is this: If we actually caught this bunch then how many more are really out there?

I also wonder why the Russians would bother with this. Given the direction and rate that we are going if they want to destroy the US then their best option would be to get out of the way and leave us alone. We seem to be doing a great job of destroying ourselves.

Sen. Byrd KKKicked the Bucket.

No, I didn't come up with that title myself, but I couldn't resist.

Here is a link. You can find plenty more if you want.

Now, to sit back and watch the LWM worship. USAToday and ABC didn't even mention the fact that he was in the KKK. Not that I would expect them to since what they "report" has little association with the facts.

Do you think the LWM would mention that fact if the person who died was anything other than a hard left leaning extremist like Byrd?

There is no left leaning bias in the media. Really, there isn't.

This is one worthless person in the senate that doesn't have to be voted out.

White House holds "behind-the-scenes talks" on blanket amnesty for illegals

Well, isn't THIS great.

First paragraph of the article:
The Obama administration has been holding behind-the-scenes talks to determine whether the Department of Homeland Security can unilaterally grant legal status on a mass basis to illegal immigrants, a former Bush administration official who spoke with at least three people involved in those talks told FoxNews.com.
I think that amnesty is a inevitable. The administration will figure out a way to do this. It might not stand up to legal challenge but that would take years. In the meantime we will collect another 20 million illegals or more.

Labor Dept. Offers to Help ILLEGALS get Higher Wages!!!

I think I'm going to be sick. Watching this nation destroy itself is enough to make anyone sick.

Here is your link. I suggest that you only click it if you have a strong stomach or if you want to get angry.

From the article:
Republican lawmakers are expressing shock over a Labor Department ad campaign that offers government assistance to illegal immigrants who think they're getting shortchanged for their work . . .
This reminds me of something I've asked before: Why do we promote unlimited illegal immigration and at the same time we have a minimum wage law?

This is more of the same nonsense.

At least one person in DC gets it. Here is proof:
"That's insane," Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz told FoxNews.com on Wednesday. "That's just unbelievable."
It is insane, but unfortunately, it is believable.

Here is some more offensive stuff:
But the Labor Department stood by the campaign, saying in a written statement to FoxNews.com that "through Democratic and Republican administrations, the Department of Labor has consistently held that the country's minimum wage and overtime law protects workers regardless of their immigration status."
I don't know what to say.

I love this part:
It is not clear how much the campaign costs.
It isn't clear because so far nobody has been able to count high enough to calculate just how much illegals cost us. A supercomputer doesn't have enough digits to find the answer.

Here is even more:
In a press release issued at the launch of the campaign, the Labor Department said it seeks to help workers learn how to file a complaint with the department's wage and hour division to recover owed wages. Solis said in the press release that she has added more than 250 new field investigators nationwide to participate in the campaign.
So now we are going to put the federal government at the disposal if illegals so they can use it as a giant club and beat employers to death. Are we, as a nation, really this stupid? On the bright side (if there is one) at least the federal government reduced the unemployment rolls by 250. Those 250 should probably be gutting chickens and cleaning toilets instead of bothering citizens and taxpayers.

Let's have a little more:
"I'm here to tell you that your president, your secretary of labor and this department will not allow anyone to be denied his or her rightful pay -- especially when so many in our nation are working long, hard and often dangerous hours," Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said.
As far as I'm concerned "rightful pay" for illegals is a kick in the behind as we dump them back over the border.

More:
The initiative appears to contradict labor law -- cited on the Labor Department's own website -- which states that employers may hire only people who work legally in the United States. The Obama administration has vowed to crack down on employers who hire illegal immigrants, employers that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has called "evildoers."
Expecting anything from the federal government to make sense is crazy. You should know better.

Here is probably my favorite part:
But the Labor Department says protecting undocumented workers from exploitation benefits all U.S. workers by ensuring there's a level playing field when they seek employment.
What country is this? What planet am I on? This reminds me of a book I read once about a guy named "Big Brother". Something about "War is Peace" and "Freedom is Slavery". I guess we can add "Illegal is Legal" and "Helping people by taking their jobs away" to that little list of sayings.

I would suggest we replace the Labor Secretary Hilda Solis with an illegal who would destroy the nation that American's don't want to destroy, but somehow I don't think Hilda has a problem destroying this nation.

I keep thinking this is a nightmare that eventually I'll wake up from.

Free Range Rooster

We keep our chickens in big cages to protect them from predators and so we don't have to look all over for the eggs. There was one White Leghorn rooster that another rooster was about to kill so we let him run loose thinking that at some point we would eat him. Yesterday Mr. Lone Free Ranger chased my little girl into the house. Tonight we are having chicken noodle soup. Or maybe chicken ala king. Chef's choice.

Word to the wise: Don't peck the hand that feeds you.

Mexican Gang's Lookout Bases in Hills of Arizona, and an interesting quote from a Federa Agent

Here is your link.

These gang members, no doubt illegal aliens, have set up lookouts on US soil to monitor US law enforcement

We are giving our nation away.

Now for the quote from that article:

“Every night we’re getting beaten like a pinata at a birthday party by drug, alien smugglers," a second federal agent told Fox News by e-mail. "The danger is out there, with all the weapons being found coming northbound…. someone needs to know about this!”
Read that again.

"The danger is out there, with all the weapons being found coming northbound . . . "

How about one more time?

"The danger is out there, with all the weapons being found coming northbound . . . "

The LWM would have you believe that no weapons come north from Mexico into the US. Only hard working, law abiding people come north from Mexico into the US. Of course going south from the US into Mexico you will find all of those beltfed machine guns and RPGs that Walmart and Academy, and Cabela's sell.

If (I know it's hard to believe, but suspend your disbelief for a moment) a few weapons are coming north from Mexico, maybe the Mexican government should just ban gun shows and close their gun show loophole.

Oh, wait, I forgot, there are no gun shows in Mexico. Do you know why? Because firearms are essentially banned in Mexico already.

It is past time to close the border. Let's get on with it. If these drug gangs from south of the border are too much for local and federal law enforcement then that is where we need to send national guard troops complete with up-armored humvees, APCs and air support.

These gangs need to be eliminated.

If Mexican military units cross the border then they should be met with overwhelming force and escorted back to the border. If they resist while on US soil then then should be eliminated.

Was the "Reckless Robber" a member of the ROP?

I realize that the story is a little dated. This creep killed himself when police cornered him in May, 2010, so it isn't exactly front page news today.

I ask because the media seem to have gone out of their way to emphasis that he "was a United States citizen". I seem to recall another ROPer in the news lately and the LWM emphasized his US citizenship while trying to bury the fact that he had just spent months in a terrorist training camp in a Muslim country. I'd like to find out more about this guy.

His name was Mouafak Kazzaz. He committed at least 20 violent armed bank robberies across Texas.

Here is a link.

I'd like to know if he was a ROPer. If he was, then what was he planning on doing with all the money he was collecting in the robberies? He had an accomplice but I haven't been able to find a name for this accomplice.

Here is a pic of Kazzaz:

That pic is enough to make me think of September 11.

Here are other pics from bank security cameras:

I haven't been able to find any pic of his accomplice.

Maybe my tinfoil hat is on too tight but I get the feeling that there is more to this story.

Parkland closed to US citizens along the border in AZ

Here is your link.

The only part of this disgusting article I'll repeat is a quote from Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu:

It’s shameful that we, as the most powerful nation on Earth, … can’t even secure our own border and protect our own families.

I'd edit that as follows:
It’s shameful that we, as the most powerful nation on Earth, … won't even secure our own border and protect our own families.

We're giving away our nation. Our children will look back in their history and ask "What were you thinking!?". Then again, the one's that go to government schools probably won't.

New Cyberspace Emergency Bill Introduced

Here is a link to a .pdf of it.

Here is a link to the text of the bill on Thomas.

Like most other bills introduced to "protect" the nation from "emergencies" it includes a lot of language about plans to do this, that, or the other thing.

The question to ask is: Would you trust Stalin with this power? If not, why would you trust anyone? Power is as good or evil as the person wielding it.

Things looking bad in Europe

Here is your link.

This isn't really news, but it is interesting to start seeing more about it in the press.

I love the way that these people who are already bankrupt don't want to change their lifestyle.

How far are we, the United States of America, from this same situation?

The situation in the Gulf of Mexico is getting worse instead of better. Aside from the environmental destruction that oil spill is a potential financial disaster for the nation. BP will declare bankruptcy at some point leaving the cost of the cleanup to us, through the federal and state governments. That cost will be huge, almost unimaginable. The oil itself will wreck the local economies of the Gulf states. Think about it. Between commercial and sport fishing, hotels, beach rentals, all the restaurants and little shops and chain stores that sell to people on and near the cost and all the people like plumbers and electricians and roofers and auto mechanics and everyone else that supports them there are a lot of people who will be out of work and a lot of businesses that will close. If you think people are upside down on their mortgages now then just imagine what things will be like after the beaches are coated with oil. After all those people lose their incomes they will be looking for unemployment benefits including education because a lot of them may never be able to return to their old careers. A lot of those people may move to other areas and now there will be more competition for the few jobs that exist so the pay for those jobs may well go down. Now add in the reduced revenue to the state and federal governments. Now throw in a lot more problems that I haven't thought of and you have the makings of a real disaster.

I wish my financial house was in better order than it is.

A Description of the President

From Bison:

. . . a slightly retarded but pretty ghetto kid.

Why do some people, especially the LWM, claim that he is brilliant?

Government Bailout of "Newspapers"

For the most part people aren't impressed by "newspapers". (The term news is used very loosely in this case.) People aren't buying them and they may go bankrupt.

I say "GOOD!!!". Let them go bankrupt. Going bankrupt is the only way to show a business the error of it's ways if it refuses to learn from falling sales.

People are tired of reading a political agenda that is passed off as news.

Of course the normal response from the federal government is - wait for it - you know it's coming - RAISE TAXES.

Here is your link.

Here is a Ronald Reagan quote that seems relevant to me:
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Student Attacks Democrat Congressman's Hand with a Camera!! Why isn't this guy in jail?

Seriously, this congressman needs to be facing an assault charge. I would've loved it if the student had punched him in the family jewels and swept his leg. A swift blow to the throat would have been interesting as well.

Probably the student was so shocked that he couldn't believe what was happening. If a creepy looking guy assaults you your mind probably doesn't have the same reaction as it does when a congressman assaults you. There is a lesson there.

I don't know this guy's voting record but I suspect that he is a wanna-be elite big government type and is upset that the little people seem like they may not accept the Hussein agenda, at least not without a fight. He knows he is in for a fight in the next election and doesn't like it. Hopefully he just put another nail in his own political coffin.

Good show congressman. You probably just did what a lot of left-wing congressmen would like to do - slap someone that you think disagrees with you.

NAACP to protest Tractor Supply Company for Selling Hoes to White People

Leon Jenkins from the NAACP said "It is outrageous that a corporation in America is actually selling hoes! Even worse, the people who are buying these hoes are using them to work in the fields. The owners of these hoes frequently push their heads into the dirt. Nobody should be mistreated like that."

A spokesman for Tractor Supply had no comment.

According to Mr. Jenkins, "After we shut down the sale of hoes at Tractor Supply we are going to go after Walmart. We have heard from a reliable source that they are selling garden hose, soaker hose, and pantyhose."

When asked if he knew what a garden hose was, Mr. Jenkins replied "Are you a racist!?"

This post was inspired by the story of the NAACP protesting Hallmark over the Black Hole graduation card. Here is a link to that story. I was surprised that the Black Hole story wasn't in the entertainment section.

What a week to be swamped at work

I've been busy and missed lot's a opportunities to rant and rave. This will be the short version of some things.

**********************

BP won't pay for the cleanup. They will declare bankruptcy. They had noble words when this first happened but as the extent of the spill has grown and the cost of the cleanup has goes out of sight they will declare bankruptcy. In the end we will all pay. There will be higher prices at the pump as companies calculate the possible cost of this and add that to their operating expenses. The same thing happens when any large company is sued and loses a huge settlement.

**********************

I wouldn't want to be in El Paso at the moment. I can't wait to see the video (if it exists) of the Mexican police crossing the border illegally, picking up something (maybe a shell case?) and dropping it near the boys body. Just trying to cause trouble for the Border Patrol agents that American's won't cause trouble for. The kid and his buddies were apparently committing aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and he defended himself. I wonder what would have happened to those kids if they had started throwing rocks on Mexican police officers? I wonder what would have happened if American kids went into Mexico and started throwing rocks at Mexican police officers. Probably none of them would ever make it home again. This reminds me of one of a comment from Jeff Cooper: Don't throw rocks at people with guns.

I'm sorry for his families loss but from what I've read about him it doesn't sound like much of a loss.

*****************************

I wouldn't want to be in Los Angeles right now, either. The trial of the BART police officer Johannes Mehserle is starting. He is a white officer charged with murder for shooting a young black man. Actually, I've had a hard time finding out exactly what he is charged with. I've watched some of the videos of the shooting. I don't think there is any question that he fired the shot. The question is: What is he charged with? That seems highly relevant to me but probably won't matter at all to the people who will likely burn the city down if he isn't convicted.

Could he be convicted of an unintentional homicide i.e. it was an accident as his defense claims? Sure. I think that would be a slam dunk. Could he be convicted of an intentional unjustified but non-premeditated homicide? That could happen. There are articles out there about exchanges of words between the man who was shot and the officers. It is possible that the officer became so angry that he intentionally shot the man. Could he be convicted of premeditated murder? I don't think so.

Of course the LWM is making a big deal about the lack of black people on the jury. The LWM loves a good riot and will do what they can to start one. It makes them lots of money. Big headlines, pictures and video of police in riot gear and people having their heads smashed by creeps with fire extinguishers are all big profit items for the news.

If this officer is charged with premeditated murder and the jury isn't allowed to convict him of a lesser crime then there will probably either be riots when he is found not guilty or he will be wrongfully convicted.

A separate issue is: Is the punishment for the lesser crimes stiff enough? I don't know what the possible range of punishment is in CA.

Another thing that struck me in the videos was the crowd. They were screaming profanity and seemed to me that they were on the edge of getting out of control while the officers were talking to the men before the shot was fired. The big city can truly be an ugly place.

*******************************

The President and his mouth. I wonder if he normally talks like that in front of his children? I don't use that kind of language in front of my kids and I don't like other people using it in front of them either. If the President thinks the A word is ok for his little girls then I wonder if he thinks the F word is ok, too? How about GD?

I can give him a tip on this: You will never get in trouble for NOT using bad language.

If you have to resort to that kind of expression then that is a sign of a limited vocabulary. I know I'm not a great example of a large vocabulary, but then again I'm not the President and I'm not on a national news show. I'll admit to saying bad things, especially if I'm working outside and I'm soaked in sweat and a machine quits working and then I hurt myself while trying to fix it, but I try hard to make sure nobody is within hearing range. I think I have the self control to hold my tongue when there is a live microphone.

*****************************

I went to a 'fun show' last weekend. It was fun. There were good deals to be found but you had to look for them.

*****************************

Until next time.

Register you cell phone - you knew this was coming

With the all powerful, all encompassing federal monstrosity you know that eventually congress and federal agencies will get around to requiring the registration of everything so they can control everything for our own good. Here is a great example.

From the article:
Alarmed by the use of hard-to-track prepaid cell phones by terror suspects, New York Sen. Chuck Schumer and Texas Sen. John Cornyn have introduced legislation requiring consumers to produce identification before buying such phones.
We all know how well this sort of nonsense works to stop people from making meth and we know how well this sort of nonsense works at keeping creeps from using firearms to commit crime.

OTOH this is a great opportunity to create a new federal agency and waste huge amounts of money. With the deficit being so large and all I think this is a great idea. NOTE: I was being facetious in case you came in late. There is probably a federal law that says I have to notify you any time I am being facetious and if I don't I will probably go to federal prison for 100 years.

This is like any other federal nonsense in that it will never go away. Like sudafed registration, even after druggies find new ways to make meth using almost no sudafed the registration will remain.

I use one of these anonymous cell phones. I like it. It works pretty much everywhere, even at the farm which is more than I can say for some of the big name services. I can buy a few minutes at a time as I need them, and I don't have to have a 2 year contract and be stuck with lousy service.

The war on terror has been used by the government almost as much as the war on drugs to infringe on just about every aspect of our liberty.

Really, what is the purpose of providing your personal information to some nameless clerk in a store who may be a criminal? Does anyone think that will prevent any sort of attack? I can see it now:

Terrorist 1: Aqmehd, did you buy the cell phones?
Terrorist 2: No Muhommed, they wanted to see my driver's license.
Terrorist 1: Too bad. I guess now we'll have to give up and go back to Saudi Arabia.

Here is a good one:
"If law enforcement has a legitimate need to surveil, let them surveil," Schumer told The Associated Press, adding, "you can make sure privacy is protected."
The only "privacy" that this loony is interested in protecting is associated with women killing their babies. Is this the same Chuckie Schumer that supports the DISCLOSE act? You know, the act that would make NRA membership lists public? Yes, it's the same Schumer. I guess he isn't too worried about your privacy if you are a member of the NRA.

Instead of requiring the registration of cell phones why don't we just ban cell phones? That would prevent terrorists from using them and ensure the safety of kids in school zones at the same time. Except that it wouldn't do either of those.

There is no idea so silly that the federal government won't support it.

Quote of the Day

It's not all bad news. Some of it is even worse.

Solar Storms Coming?

NASA thinks so.

From the article:

Richard Fisher, head of NASA's Heliophysics Division, explains what it's all about:

"The sun is waking up from a deep slumber, and in the next few years we expect to see much higher levels of solar activity. At the same time, our technological society has developed an unprecedented sensitivity to solar storms. The intersection of these two issues is what we're getting together to discuss."

I know it's true that we increasingly use and depend on technology that is sensitive to solar storms.

More:

"Space weather forecasting is still in its infancy, but we're making rapid progress," says Thomas Bogdan, director of NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder, Colorado.
Seems to me that we have such a small sample of data to base future predictions on that I doubt anyone knows if we are making rapid progress or are just kidding ourselves. Humans have been watching the sun with an eye to sensitive technology for how long now?

That being said, I'm glad someone is looking at this.

A guy at work asked me what to do about a bat on his porch

My first question was "Is it bothering anyone?"

After a little explanation I thought this was right up Paladin's alley. It turns out that this was an injured bat on the porch floor and a blue jay was attacking it. The guy's wife was brave enough to walk out and take pics of it. It looked like your typical small dark colored flying mammal.

The guy said his wife was "freaking out" over it. I asked if he had a pair of heavy boots that she could wear to stomp on it but he didn't think that she would do that.

He didn't have a shovel that she could pick it up with to move it away from the door and he didn't know how badly injured it was. If it was still mobile on it's feet then moving it with a shovel might not be such a great idea.

I asked him if he had a heavy cardboard box that she could scoop it up into to move it away. He said "Well, we have a cat litter pail that she could use."

I finally realized that his wife is totally incapable of dealing with something like this. He was not going back home to take care of it and I'm not sure he could handle it either. He was concerned about rabies, which is nothing to laugh at. Mainly he was worried that his dogs might be injured or get rabies even though they've been vaccinated. I laughed because my dogs probably would have eaten the little critter so quickly that I would never have seen it.

I suggested he call animal control and they would probably have someone come out to get it. Sometimes you just have to call a professional.

Here is a pic of the critter on the ground. She had twins!!

Here is a pic of the critter in the net.

Animal control took away the little critters and said she would drop them off at Outdoor Learning Center. I guess they have a veterinarian available there on the city payroll who can check out the bats and see if they can be saved or will have to be euthanized.

The economy added 431K jobs in May - Or Not

Here is your link.

The first paragraph of the article sums it up:
Job creation by private companies grew at the slowest pace since the start of the year, as a wave of census hiring lifted payrolls by 431,000 in May. The unemployment rate dipped to 9.7 percent as people gave up searching for work.

Here is a little more:

Virtually all the job creation in May came from the hiring of 411,000 census workers. Such hiring peaked in May and will begin tailing off in June.

By contrast, hiring by private employers, the backbone of the economy, slowed sharply. They added just 41,000 jobs, down from 218,000 in April and the fewest since January.

IOW the jobs that werre supposedly added were almost all government jobs. Great. Government produces nothing. This is not a long term solution, even if the jobs were temporary jobs.

Here is another nice little bit:

Counting people who have given up looking for work and part-timers who would rather be working full time, the "underemployment" rate fell to 16.6 percent in May from 17.1 percent in April.

I question if 16.6 percent is high enough.

Another depressing part:

The number of people out of work six months or longer reached 6.76 million in May, a new high. They made up 46 percent of all unemployed people, also a record high.

This isn't really news but it is in an article out there in public instead of hidden in government statistics.

We're not out of trouble, yet.

People in this "ethical" administration still trying to dodge their taxes

Here is your link.

Maybe they should make Rahm Emanuel the Secretary of the Treasury. It seems that being a tax cheat is a requirement to be part of this group that wants to raise YOUR taxes.

I love this excuse:
The White House responded to Newsradio 780's inquiry and issued this statement, "Rahm Emanuel has owned his home in Chicago for 11 years and has always paid his obligations promptly. He never received this particular bill, but today, the moment it was brought to his attention, he paid it in-full immediately."
You see? He isn't really a cheat. He just never got the bill. He was so busy trashing the Constitution that he didn't have time to think about silly things like paying his taxes. Paying taxes is for the little people, not for important people like him. Unless he is called out in public of course. You can't let the little people know that the lord and master isn't paying his fair share.

Maybe this just has to do with the definition of fair. To these people fair means "you have to pay and I don't".

They need to outlaw murder in the UK

Here is your link.

If only murder were against the law in the UK then this wouldn't have happened.

I also wonder if the perp was a member of the ROP or if he was just another "regular" whacko.

How are all those personal disarmament laws working out?

Thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families.
