First eggs are usually small and this one was no exception. Here are a couple of pics of it compared to regular sized eggs from our White Leghorns.
Pretty soon we will have more eggs than we can eat.

I did not know that. Are they the same - flavor-wise - as regular sized eggs? How long does it take them to get up to normal size?

Do you deliver? If so, I can help you out with that problem... no need to thank me :)
The Other Mike S., they taste the same to me, although I often like my eggs scrambled or as an omelet so it's hard to be sure.
As hens age they lay larger and larger eggs and lay less often, which is one reason that "Extra Large" eggs cost more. As the hens get older they start laying double yokers as well and sometimes they are so big that the hen hemorrhages and even dies. We had one die after she laid a huge double yoker last year. It was almost as big as a tennis ball. I've got pictures somewhere and I'll post one if I can find it.
Paladin, I sent you an email with the subject "eggs".
